To carry a baton as a CA Security Guard, you are required to take an 8-hour BSIS Baton Training Course. Upon successful completion of the baton training that includes passing a written test, you will be able to apply for a Baton Permit through BSIS. Current baton permit holders will be required effective this year to renew their permit every two years. Renewals will require permit holders to take this 8-hour course.
**Carrying a baton without a BSIS baton permit and a valid BSIS guard card is a Felony in California.**
Cost: $130. The $130 Class Fee does not include the BSIS Baton Permit fee. The cost of the BSIS Baton Permit is $60. The $60 permit fee must be paid to BSIS by the applicant after successful completion of the class.
